Abridged Marriage Certificate
An Abridged Typed Marriage Certificate is issued by Home Affairs to the couple following their marriage. This certificate is generally sufficient for couples residing in South Africa and, with an apostille or authentication, may also be accepted in certain countries abroad.
Please Note: An abridged marriage certificate can only be obtained if both spouses are still alive and remain married to each other. This version is also required for divorce proceedings.
