Sworn translations are official translations performed by a sworn translator, primarily used for legal or court-related purposes. These translations hold legal standing and are typically required for documents such as contracts, court decisions, or legal statements that need to be presented in court or to legal authorities.
On the other hand, certified translations are translations that come with a certification from a qualified translator attesting to the accuracy of the translation. Certified translations are generally used for administrative, academic, or immigration purposes, such as translating birth certificates, academic transcripts, or other personal documents.
While sworn translations are legally binding in courts, certified translations are accepted for most other official processes.
