Department of Home Affairs (DHA) in South Africa stopped issuing abridged birth certificates as of March 4, 2013. The decision was made in line with government efforts to ensure more secure and reliable documentation. Since then, only the full birth certificate, which includes detailed information such as the parents' details, has been issued. The full birth certificate serves as the official record of birth in South Africa.
